Earlier in 2016 the internet was brought the news that Hyundai, the affordable car manufacturer, would be entering the business of creating compact performance hatchbacks. With little more than a 50 second video, the speculation grew. Gradually, as more information was released, we've seen more and more, and our excitement continues to grow.

The earliest of rumors say that the first incarnation of this car, the i30 N, will be housing a turbo-charged 2.0L engine pushing out 255 horsepower and 228 lb-ft of torque. Most likely this will be front-wheel drive with a six-speed manual transmission. These types of numbers would put it in line to compete against the Volkswagen GTI and the Ford Focus ST.

While this is nothing more than a rumor at this point, the staff here at Elgin Hyundai in Elgin, IL, is excited to see the news that will surely come out about the i30 N and only hope that it will make its way to the U.S. rebadged in the Elantra model line. Stay tuned for updates!
