The Hyundai Genesis Coupe available here at Elgin Hyundai when fitted with its larger engine option, features a 3.8-liter V6 generating up to 348 horsepower.
While that's more than plenty, Hyundai wanted to step it up a notch, and will be an introducing an Electric Blue Genesis Coupe at the annual SEMA show in Las Vegas, which is fitted with a modified version of the 3.8-liter V6 which generating up to 1,000 horsepower.
Now, it doesn't take a math expert to figure out that the SEMA-version offers quite a bit more pomp and circumstance. But, what you may be wondering is how this engine with the same capacity as the stock version is able to have such a high power output.
The brains behind the upgraded engine come from Bisimoto engineering and they clearly put the engine into engineering. With the inclusion of Steel connecting rods, new camshafts, a Godzilla blow-off valve, custom headwork and more, it's easy to see how the modified 3.8-liter V6 for the Genesis Coupe can produce so much power.
But, according to the experts, it's not just about the special augmentations but rather the heart and soul of the underpinnings as well.
"The core powerplant must be strong enough to withstand advanced modifications," explains Bisi Ezerioha, owner of Bisimoto Engineering. "The Genesis Coupe 3.8-liter Lambda engine is a thoroughly robust powerplant, and Bisimoto Engineering is excited to develop it to its full potential for the rigors of competitive motorsport."1
