According to CarMD's Vehicle Health Index Manufacturer and Vehicle Reliability Rankings for this year, Hyundai's on the top of the reliability list. Named "Most Reliable Manufacturer" for 2013, customers in the Elign and Schaumburg, IL areas and beyond can drive soundly knowing they're behind the wheel of a trusted company.
The annual report looks at manufacturers and their vehicles and evaluates which have the lowest combined "check engine" repair incidents and costs. From there, the report lists the top 10 manufacturers, the top 100 vehicles, and the vehicles with the most common repairs by make.
Hyundai's index rating this year was .80, the lowest index rating among manufacturers. It also had the lowest overall repair cost with the average cost of repair computing to $312.67.
The results were based on 151,000 repairs on model year 2003-2013 vehicles from Oct. 1, 2012 to Sept. 30, 2013. Figuring out the index resulted in looking at which vehicles had the fewest percentage of CarMD repair incidents as well as the lowest cost per repair, per number of registered vehicles.
