Will a 2026 Santa Fe fit your garage?

Start with 190.2 inches of length and 74.8 inches of width, excluding mirrors. Those are Hyundai’s published dimensions for the 2026 gasoline Santa Fe. They are useful starting points, but a garage that clears the body can still be too tight for the mirrors, an open door or the liftgate.

What it means for you

The details that help you decide

01

The entrance test needs mirror width

The published 74.8-inch width stops at the vehicle body; it does not include the mirrors. For the entrance, compare your narrowest clear opening with the outside-to-outside span of the mirrors on the vehicle you are considering. Measure that complete span directly. Do not add it to the body width, which would count the body twice.

Check the opening where the vehicle actually passes through. Door tracks, trim and items beside the entrance can reduce the usable space. This guide does not supply an unpublished mirror-width figure or promise that folding mirrors makes a particular entrance suitable.

02

Length is only the beginning of the parking check

At 190.2 inches long, the Santa Fe needs that much clear space just for its closed vehicle outline. Measure your usable garage depth with the garage door closed. Then consider what occupies the space in front and behind the vehicle: shelving, a workbench, stored equipment or the route you use to walk through the garage.

There is no universal extra allowance that makes every garage practical. The useful question is whether your own parking position leaves enough room for the activities you need, with the garage door operating normally and without contact.

03

Try the doors before deciding that it fits

Passing through the entrance and parking inside are different tests. A wall or another parked car may leave too little space to open a door comfortably. At the dealership, check the opening you use to get in and out and, if relevant, to help a passenger into the rear seats. Compare that space with the arrangement at home.

Use your normal parking plan for the comparison. Moving everything out of the garage for a one-time test can conceal a space problem that returns with everyday use.

04

Give the liftgate and roof their own checks

Check the vehicle’s height as equipped, including accessories you intend to keep fitted. Compare it with the lowest obstruction along the approach and above the parking position, such as garage-door hardware or storage. Ground clearance measures space underneath a vehicle; it is not roof height.

The liftgate also needs room behind and above the vehicle when open. Observe and measure its opening path on the exact vehicle before treating the closed vehicle length as the whole clearance requirement. Do not force a door or liftgate against an obstruction during a fit check.

05

Wheelbase answers a different question

Hyundai lists a 110.8-inch wheelbase: the distance between the front and rear axle centers. That number is not overall length, usable cargo-floor length or a turning-circle measurement. Use the 190.2-inch overall length for the first parking-depth comparison; use direct checks for maneuvering and loading questions.

06

Bring the measurements to the vehicle

Write down the entrance width, usable parking depth and lowest overhead obstruction, and bring a photo of the parking area. Use the filtered 2026 Santa Fe inventory to identify a vehicle, then compare its actual mirrors, fitted accessories and open-door clearances with that information.

For a stroller or luggage question, the relevant measurements are inside the vehicle and at the cargo opening. The separate Santa Fe cargo and seating guide explains how the published cargo volumes change with the rear rows folded.

A few more answers

Your questions, answered

Does the 74.8-inch width include the mirrors?

No. Hyundai labels this dimension as width excluding mirrors. Measure the complete outside-to-outside mirror span of the vehicle separately and compare it directly with your garage opening.

Can I decide garage fit from the published dimensions alone?

No. Check the mirrors, the available room to open doors and the liftgate, and the height of the actual vehicle with any fitted accessories. Published length and body width are starting points.

Is wheelbase the same as the space needed to park?

No. The 110.8-inch wheelbase measures between the axle centers. Hyundai lists the overall vehicle length as 190.2 inches.
